Mapping Nassau Bus Routes (Regularly Updated)

I’ve always had a thing for transportation systems. Because of that when looking for projects and simultaneously brainstorming ways I can improve my own city, I found that it would be very advanatages to create new hypothetical bus routes and to digitise the transit system.

I first set out finding how to do this and I learned that GIS, geographic information system would be perfect for this. I have been reading the documentation and teaching myself (with QGIS). The more I use GIS software the more I realize how great it really is. It helps to visualize and analyze data and to combine different forms of geogpraphic data.

If you’ve been following me ( which you should if you haven’t already on all social platforms by clicking the links on my website. 🙂 ) Then you would know that I posted a tiktok where I requested that people tell me where they want to go and are coming from. Using this data I plotted the demand for routes in specific areas. I have attached an image below. Analyse it and tell me what you think.

I am also working on getting the interactive maps into this website so that you can more easily see, zoom in, download the map, etc, etc.

Thank you for reading, I will keep this article updated when I make more progress.
